“YUM, THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS,” you think as a waiter carries a soaring slice of triple chocolate fudge cake with salted caramel sauce to the next table. Suddenly your dining companion’s voice becomes background noise and all you can focus on is that cake. “I shouldn’t have dessert,” you tell yourself. “It is way too fattening and I need to stick to my diet. But it looks so good …” The mental battle begins. You gaze at the woman at the next table who seems to be in the midst of chocolate-fueled ecstasy. “A few bites won’t hurt,” you think as you order the dessert from the waiter. “I’ll go on a juice fast tomorrow to make up for these extra calories.”
